One year ago, I was on my way with my good photog-friends Molly and Ella to California. We road tripped from Los Angeles up the coast to Santa Barbara for a few days before making our way to an awesome workshop in El Capitan Canyon called Photo Field Trip. A creative reprieve for photographers, with classes, conversation, and camping! It was an amazing experience I’ll never forget. From learning tips from one of my photo-idols Jill Thomas and photographing her super talented brother Ben Christensen and his beautiful wife Paige styled by the fashionable Kami with a K, to learning from the creative team of Brinson Banks and photographing the stunning Kendra while hiking to the beach, to a birthday parade for the super cool Paul Octavious, having a lunch conversation with Max Wanger (whose work was instrumental in me entering this business), doing a polar bear plunge in 10′ waves, and just exploring and playing in the mud (there was endless mud). It sometimes takes a year to digest the impacts a trip like this has on you, it certainly did for me!
Images shot on a combo of digital, my mother-in-law’s vintage film AE-1, and my Canon 1v. Film processed and scanned by Photovision.
