lighthouse elopement

This lighthouse elopement for Eva and Kirk at Castle Hill light was so special! I’ve never been asked to sign a couple’s marriage certificate before, but as they exchanged vows on the cliffs overlooking the ocean, the officiant turned to myself and the golf cart driver and asked for our John Hancock on the license. I couldn’t help but tear up. It never is lost on me how special my job is, how intimately I am entwined with that couple’s memories of their day. Putting my name in black and white on their marriage certificate took it to a whole new level. I met Kirk in the wooden bar inside the Inn at Castle Hill. He nervously tied his tie in the mirror, never letting go of the box that contained the wedding bands. I left him in good hands with the officiant and made my way to the beach cottages where Eva was getting ready with the wonderful stylists of Jennie Kay Beauty.  After a little bouquet snafu, Eva put on her beautiful headband and she and I rode out to the lighthouse on the golf cart. Kirk walked up to her shortly thereafter, and with the heavy gray breeze blowing, they exchanged their I do’s.  We spent an hour driving all over Castle Hill’s gorgeous property afterward. From Grace Kelly beach to the oceanfront to the garden and everywhere in between, it felt like the entire property was theirs and theirs alone. It was so quiet. So sweet. So many happy tears.
